Day 70 – Trinidad and Tobago
It’s day 70 of Michael’s ‘79 Days’ abstinence challenge, and today marks the lack of LGBTQ rights in Trinidad and Tobago. According to Section 13 of the Sexual Offences Act, people who commit same-sex sexual activity in Trinidad and Tobago can face a penalty of up to 25 years in prison.
Michael, the Breakout Youth Development Worker, is raising awareness of the lack of LGBTQ rights in 79 countries around the world by abstaining from meat, fish and sugary treats for 79 days. In doing so, Michael is also raising money for Breakout Youth, a charity that supports LGBTQ young people in Southampton, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight by helping the young people to build their confidence and accept who they are.
