Today represents the LGBTQ rights in Belize. Up until 10th August 2016, homosexual activity in Belize has been illegal, with LGBTQ individuals facing imprisonment of up to 10 years as a punishment. Belize has recently decriminalised Section 53 of the Belize Criminal Code, allowing homosexuality to be legalised. This marks a time of change in Belize, however there continues to be a law in Belize which prohibits foreign homosexuals from entering the country.
