Day 61 – St Kitts and Nevis
It’s day 61 of Michael’s 79 Days challenge which marks the lack of LGBTQ rights in St Kitts and Nevis. According to section 56 and 57 of the ‘Offences against the Person Act’, male homosexuality is illegal in St Kitts and Nevis, with up to 10 years of imprisonment as a penalty. LGBTQ rights for women are, however, different to men, with female homosexuality being classified as legal.
Michael, the Breakout Youth Development Worker, is raising awareness of the lack of LGBTQ rights in 79 countries around the world by abstaining from meat, fish and sugary treats for 79 days. If you would like to find out more, click here.
