Today Michael is abstaining from meat, fish, and sugary treats to signify the discrimination against LGBTQ individuals in Angola. Imprisonment has been in place as the punishment for homosexuality since 1886, however in more recent years some non-governmental organisation (NGOs) that are working on AIDS-HIV education have started to work with the LGBTQ community.
