Today marks the lack of LGBTQ rights in Iraq. While same-sex sexual activity have been decriminalized in Iraq, homosexuality continues to be taboo amongst the majority of the Iraq population. Many LGBTQ people suffer from discrimination, abuse, shame killings and murder, and in 2012 Iraq was declared to be unsafe for LGBTQ people.
