Michael is abstaining from meat, fish and sugary treats to raise awareness of the lack of LGBTQ rights in 79 countries around the world. Today represents Guyana, a country where homosexual acts are illegal, with a punishment of up to life imprisonment.

In 2000 and 2003, amendments were put forward to change the Constitution of Guyana to protect LGBTQ people against discrimination. The proposed amendments were, however, denied, and therefore people who identify as LGBTQ in Guyana continue to face both legal punishments and discrimination against their sexuality and gender identity.
