Daesh, also recognised as ISIS or ISIL, is a political entity that has anti-LGBTQ laws despite the fact it is not recognised as a country. People who identify as LGBTQ in the areas of Northern Iraq and Northern Syria face a death penalty for same-sex activity, which ISIS publicise through video footage.
Today is day 15 of Michael’s ‘79 Days’ challenge where he is giving up meat, fish and sugary treats in a bid to raise awareness of the lack of LGBTQ rights in the countries where it is illegal to be homosexual. In doing so, Michael is raising money for Breakout Youth, a charity that supports LGBTQ young people in Southampton, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight by helping the young people to build their confidence and accept who they are.
